What’s the first thing you think about when I say, “Your Future Self”?
It was an interesting question to be asked, and it took a moment for me to even dig into it.
I meditated on the word a bit in silence and what came up for me was the following list of scattered thoughts:
BE PRESENT. The future isn’t a promise.
BE GRATEFUL. There was a time in life where I wasn’t certain I had a future.
I AM ENOUGH. Future me would be disappointed if I spend too much time thinking I’m not.
BE OK WITH CHANGE. Change is exciting, inevitable and it’s perfectly ok to do it as often as needed.
BE CONSISTENT. Every choice I make now is a step towards or a step away from the future I want.
BE AUTHENTIC. Future me only lives the life she wants if I stay on my authentic path now.
BE FORGIVING. Present me will make mistakes, but future me will learn and grow because of them.
While sometimes thinking of our future can seem like this daunting idea that we can’t really make tangible, I challenge you to take a moment to meditate on it for yourself. Future you, indeed, is the outcome of a bunch of little “preset you” decisions.
So, what’s the first thing you think about when I say, “Your Future Self”?
